Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, add warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Mix lightly and let it sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy. Add egg, vanilla extract, softened butter, and salt. Mix well. Slowly add flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Make the Cheese Filling
- In a bowl, add cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add egg, vanilla extract, and flour. Mix well until no lumps remain. Set aside.
Shape the Bread
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle. Spread the cheese filling evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly like a log. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Cover the loaf and let it rest for 20 minutes. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden on top. Remove from the oven and cool slightly before slicing.
Serve
- Slice the bread while warm and enjoy the soft, sweet, creamy cheese-filled texture, just like Mastoris-style bread.
