  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg 3 tbsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Rolling Pin
  • Loaf pan or baking tray
  • Oven
  • Plastic wrap or kitchen towel
  • Cutter for slicing

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, add warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Mix lightly and let it sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy. Add egg, vanilla extract, softened butter, and salt. Mix well. Slowly add flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Make the Cheese Filling
  1. In a bowl, add cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add egg, vanilla extract, and flour. Mix well until no lumps remain. Set aside.
Shape the Bread
  1. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle. Spread the cheese filling evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly like a log. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Cover the loaf and let it rest for 20 minutes. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden on top. Remove from the oven and cool slightly before slicing.
Serve
  1. Slice the bread while warm and enjoy the soft, sweet, creamy cheese-filled texture, just like Mastoris-style bread.
